In The Months
Ahead
| Your body will go
through many changes, most very subtle. You will also feel
those phantom pains, tingles and warm sensations. Remember,
you have a foreign body in you now and your tissue is getting
accustomed to the instantaneous added, albeit foreign,
augmentation. Your collagen is networking around the implant,
although in rare cases a capsule never forms, to basically shut
the foreign object off from the rest of your body. It is
very natural. Think of it being similar to a pearl which
forms from a grain of sand in an oyster. But not near as
pretty. |

After your initial
post-operative appointments (usually within the first 3 weeks), you will
be expected to attend any of your later appointments. Some
surgeons suggest stopping in at the 1 month, 2 month, 3 month, 6 month
mark. Some request 1 month, 4 month, 6 month mark. Some suggest the
6 month or 1 year mark. And some, never again.
Get to know your body.
Also ask beforehand regarding post-operative check up charges. Some
surgeons charge their patients for a quick 10 minute check up, some do
not. Please see our Post-operative
Appointment Prep Sheet for tips.
Normally, your scar will
appear at its worst at the 3 month post-op mark. It should then
begin to fade thereafter unless you are prone to keloids or hypertrophy.
In these cases, you may consider a scar revision surgery or use silicone
sheeting or other products as outlined in the Scar
Treatment Section.
